To help us to explore this it is useful to look at Ampere’s Law (the ampere, often shortened to amp, is the SI unit of electric current and is one of the seven SI base units. It is named after André-Marie Ampère, French mathematician and physicist, regarded as the father of electrodynamics) which is one of the most basic laws of physics. This law relates to the electrical and magnetic energies in and around the human body. Ampere’s Law explains that when electrical currents flow through conductors, be they wires or living tissue, a magnetic field is produced in the surrounding space. All living tissue such as the heart and other muscles, the brain, and other organs conduct electricity. So the laws of physics tell us that they create a magnetic field around the body. This is called the biomagnetic field.
Magnetobiology is the field which explores the effects of magnetic fields on living systems. These fields can be measured with instruments like the magnetometer and the superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). Since quantum physics has emerged, tools for measuring biomagnetic fields have become more sophisticated.
Western medicine is no stranger to using energy-based technologies for patient diagnosis and treatment. Think of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators, lasers, magnetic and electrical biopsies etc.
Pulsing magnetic fields can be a catalyst for tissue healing, bone healing and other body
parts’ healing. 1970s biomagnetic research showed that certain magnetic fields could
stimulate the growth process in bone fractures that resisted healing. This prompted the FDA to approve Pulsing Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) for bone healing. Wire
coils are positioned near the fracture to induce electrical current flows in the bone. The necessary frequency range is 7 Hz.
Reiki practitioners are attuned to the relevant frequencies by a Reiki Master.
Pulsing magnetic fields from the hands of Reiki therapists are in the same
frequency ranges that are most effective for stimulating tissue repair. Biologically optimal
levels of electromagnetic frequencies for stimulating human tissue repair are all in what is
called the extremely low frequency (ELF) range. They have been documented as 2
cycles per second (Hz) for nerve regeneration, 7 Hz for bone growth, 10 Hz for ligament
repair, and 15 Hz for capillary formation.
Dr. John Zimmerman measured the magnetic field frequencies of Reiki practitioners and
other energy therapists whilst they worked on clients. He discovered that they all emitted ELF frequencies from their hands. The range of that field was 0.3 to 30 Hz. This is the same range of frequencies associated with healthy tissue and organs. The frequency occurring most often in the hands of energy therapists was 7 Hz, the same frequency as the PEMF device approved by the FDA for stimulating bone growth.
The brain waves of energy therapists synchronize with the earth’s magnetic field.
Also in the extremely low frequency (ELF) range is the Schumann Resonance, the basic
frequency of the earth’s electromagnetic spectrum estimated to be 7.83 Hz. Some
scientists call it the “tuning fork” of the planet. They say that it generates natural healing properties when living things are attuned to its rhythm.
Where did this figure of 7.83 Hz come from?
Our planet is approximately 6371 km in diameter or 40,030 km in circumference. An electromagnetic or radio frequency which travels close to the speed of light takes close to 0.1334 seconds to cicumnavigate Earth. This would correlate with approximately 7.49 but apparently if you take into account the ionosphere as being roughly 300 km up, and adjust the radis by 150 kms ite calculates a circular cicuit of 0.136 seconds which correlates with a frequency of approximately 7.32.
Therefore 7.83 is not an exact frequency but the average peak frequency. This is estimated by averaging the Schumann frequencies over long periods of time. These change with environmental conditions. There are many stations like Stanford that measure the frequency daily.
Imagine the infant planet Earth without any life forms on it (this is just a thought experiment) It was filled with a natural frequency and there was no interference from within as there was no life. Life forms gradually evolved and they were also surrounded by this frequency as they were probably part and parcel of the planet and to be able to survive and evolve in the atmosphere, the frequency must have been compatible. Life forms probably attuned to the frequency and resonated with it. It was a while before humans appeared and they entered a system and were able to progress by being in the flow of the frequencies.
Research shows that humans need to be exposed to the Earth’s frequency because it is life affirming. It regulates our mental and physical health, synchronizes our circadian rhythms, improves our immune system and our sense of wellbeing.
So we are surrounded by natural frequencies. But importantly, our bodies are filled with them too. As Without So Within. As Above, So Below. Our cells communicate via electro magnetic frequencies. Our brain continuously emits a stream of frequencies and our DNA imparts instructions, using frequency waves. This communication within us is vital to our existence and health. A lot is going on within us. I think that the term busy bodies is apt here.
But of course, technology and tampering by humankind have disturbed the natural frequencies. Our language tells us what the effects are. Our nerves jangle and are on edge. We cannot think straight. We feel off balance. Our heads are fuzzy. People talk of being wired differently. I am sure that you can think of more examples.
People might say that Reiki works because of the placebo effect, that is there is no energy shift from the practitioner laying on hands. If this were the case, would it really matter if people feel better? But there has been some research into what happens during a Reiki session. Dr. John Zimmerman (1980s and 1990) and Seto (Japan) measured the magnetic field frequencies of Reiki practitioners and other energy therapists while they worked on clients. They discovered that the practitioners emitted ELF frequencies from their hands. They also established that the range of that frequency was 0.3 to 30 Hz which coincides with the range of frequencies linked to healthy tissue and organs. Additionally, they also identified that the frequency occurring most often in the practitioners’ hands was 7Hz which happens to coincide with the frequency emitted by the PEMF device for stimulating bone growth.
Research had illustrated that this range of frequencies will stimulate various types of healing within the body. In”The Science Behind Reiki” By Bernadette Doran, BS, RMT
“brain waves are not merely confined to the brain but travel throughout the body via the perineural system, the sheaths of connective tissue surrounding all nerves. During treatment, these waves begin as relatively weak pulses in the thalamus of the practitioner’s brain, and gather cumulative strength as they flow to the peripheral nerves of the body including the hands. The same effect is mirrored in the person receiving treatment, and Becker suggests that it is this system more than any other, that regulates injury repair and system rebalance. This highlights one of the special features of Reiki, that both practitioner and client receive the benefits of a treatment”
People do report benefits from Reiki but there is no definitive proof that it cures any disease but it is not harmful in any way and seems to be beneficial whether the client believes it will be useful or not. But science uses rigorous methods and the situation at the moment is that ” it is not necessary for science to document the existence of either Reiki or the biofield in order to measure the impact of Reiki on the human system (aspirin was used for 70 years before science began to understand how it works). Although some effects of Reiki are measurable, such as improved heart rate and blood pressure, many commonly reported benefits of repeated Reiki sessions, such as a sense of spiritual connection and enhanced self-esteem, may not be quantifiable. It is still important to document these reported benefits” takingcharge.csh.umn.edu › Explore Healing Practices › Reiki
So Reiki is not scientifically proven but it is being introduced as a complementary therapy within some speheres of the medical world. Perhaps one day, there will be a scientifically acceptable quantifiable measuring device. In the interim, Reiki is here to stay and people will continue to benefit from it. It makes no claims other than it may attune people to their own healing frequency.
I have been convinced for a while that everything in life is about frequencies, from illnesses to whether you find what you are searching for etc. I used to do hands on healing within a Spiritualist Church over 25 years ago but I always felt that I needed to learn a technique or have more instruction. I am not saying that the hands on healers are ineffective. People report that they feel better or at least experience calmness after a session. It is just that I personally like to go into things in as much depth as possible. I have recently become a Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher and am now exploring things more deeply. There are a lot of related subjects that I will look into as I feel that we are beginning to get somewhere and that all of these phenomena are connected as are everyone and everything on this planet and outwards, through energy and frequency. I think that there are interesting times ahead.
Keep Calm and Carry On With That Frequency
to be continued…..
Two billion years ago life first arrived on this planet; a planet, which was filled with a natural frequency. As life slowly evolved, it did so surrounded by this frequency. and Inevitably, it began tuning in.
